Gabriel Chipperfield's design & development studio Wendover repurposes a 'much-loved' neighbourhood building for modern living. DD LONDON worked closely with long term client Wendover to create the branding and hoarding designs for the development.
The former St John’s Wood Police Station in northwest London is about to emerge from its transformation into a boutique apartment scheme.
Revamped and extended by design and development studio Wendover, the “much-loved” neighbourhood building now houses nine rental homes arranged around a “European-style” central courtyard.
Rebranded as 20 Newcourt Street, Wendover’s debut rental project retained and restored all the exterior elements of the original Victorian portion of the property.
Based in London, Rotterdam and New York and led by Gabriel Chipperfield (son of Pritzker Prize-winning architect Sir David), the firm has construction, development, and advisory arms. Upcoming projects include multiple homes on London’s Regent’s Park and Holland Park, an apartment on New York’s Upper East Side, the transformation of a mid-century office building in Mayfair, and the restoration of the Grade II listed former Lancaster Gate Hotel into nine boutique homes.
Completed endeavours include a number of private residences, offices, studios, and retail and hospitality concepts including Shreeji News on London’s Chiltern Street, Foreign Exchange, Sol’s and Sol’s Sister on Leinster Terrace in Bayswater, and Margate’s Fort Road Hotel.
