The Hind's Head – A new era for a quintessential classic
When this classic eatery in the British village of Bray and jewel in avant-garde chef Heston Blumenthal’s Michelin crown, invited us to revitalise its brand identity and create a captivating digital presence, we injected a sense of Blumenthal’s personality into the brand while appreciating its 600-year heritage.
We commissioned artist Olivia Knapp, known for her intricate hand-drawn work, to create thoughtful historical themes and narratives within each room of the restaurant, amplifying the restaurant’s rich past and curious stories from its inhabitants and visitors since the 1400’s, when it was first established as a hunting lodge and coaching inn.
The deer motif was brought up-to-date with theatrical additions and became a symbol of the restaurant, featuring on menu design, signage, event collateral and gift vouchers. The branding is intricately blended into the existing interior design and rich history of the local area to create a space that felt like a thoroughly modern interpretation of the English classic.
Our work with the brand has continued across The Fat Duck Group branding and websites, further restaurants including for The Crown at Bray and The Perfectionists Cafe at Heathrow Airport.
